Sunday 22nd November 2009 - The Gardener's
Arms, Haddington
Another new venue for me, and I had absolutely no idea
what to expect. Finding the pub was hard, as the sign was obscured
by a big Sky advert. But after asking at the bus stop (thank you),
we found it.
This wee pub is like a rabbit warren, but strangely
quaint at the same time. The downstairs is a small bar, with a
balcony area looking over it - this was to be my stage for the night.
The position of the speakers had to be changed to allow for the height
of the stage, and we were asked to put them at the rear of the balcony,
as there had been a few complaints about noise levels.
The bar was quite quiet to start with (at 8.30), but
soon got busy towards the end of the night, and my rock standards went
down a treat.
For any acts doing this venue, please don't judge it
on first sight - it's a friendly wee place. Oh and you can take
your gear down the back stairs afterwards, avoiding the crush.
There's a good chippy round the corner too...
