Saturday 7th June 2014 - Fishers Hotel, Pitlochry
Pitlochry is a truly beautiful part of Scotland, with its little
coffee shops and stunning scenery. This was our first visit to
this hotel, and it is lovely! I was set up in the Ballroom to
entertain a huge group of foreign tourists, who sat down to have a
meal after a hard day's sightseeing. I kept the music levels
down, of course - no one wants to hear loud music while they eat -
and I quite enjoyed doing a laid back lounge style set, including
songs from Adele's two albums and a bit of jazz. There were a
few ripples of applause during the set, but I went on to take my
break after the first set to find a fair amount of the diners
leaving. I suppose it's quite a long day if you've been
travelling around the area, and I can understand them being tired
out. I can understand the hotel hoping that having
entertainment on might encourage a few of the tourists to stick
around for a while, but sadly this wasn't the case.
I was left, at the end of my second set, with two great guys -
Geordie and Tam, who were a good laugh, and were kind enough to buy
me a drink or two. After requesting "Whole Lotta Rosie" (which
I duly did alongside "Highway to Hell", they apologised for the fact
they had to leave. It was at this point the Night Porter came
to tell me that I could finish there. Apparently the bar was
absolutely jumping, and full of people, so it was with a heavy heart
that we packed up, wishing we had been booked for the bar.....
